Fleur Drive Medians
As the road that connects the Des Moines Airport to downtown Des Moines, Fleur Drive has been called the city’s “welcome mat.” The 17 flower-filled Fleur Drive medians between Gray’s Lake and the airport have long been a way to create a positive and beautiful first impression of the city. As Des Moines grows and visiting travels have increased, this has never been more true.
With support from the Ruan Family Foundation, all 17 planters along the Fleur Drive corridor will be refurbished with new irrigation and drainage systems to make ongoing maintenance easier and limit disturbance to traffic flow. Construction of the remaining 11 planters will begin in 2024.
The Friends of Des Moines Parks is a nonprofit 501c3 organization with a mission to preserve, protect, improve, and promote the use of Des Moines’ parks, greenways, and recreational programs for the benefit of all neighborhoods, residents, and visitors. The Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department is not responsible for replacing trees in the event that they are damaged due to normal wear and tear, natural disaster or vandalism. Please contact your tax professional to determine if your purchase is tax-deductible.
